As you know, its rare that I call on the VBL Tribe to take any real action – other than crushing it for themselves! But, today, my virtual buddies, I am calling on you for help and support in two ways.
Firstly, as you know, the VBL Podcast has become one of the most popular podcasts available for those searching for information on setting up, running and growing virtual businesses and online marketing in general. I’ve been super blessed to have some amazing guests on the show up to this point – where we are currently on episode 42 of the show.
I plan on taking the podcast up to episode 50 and then taking a little break from it for a while, to focus on other projects. Let me make it clear, here and now, I am NOT stopping the podcast – simply putting it on hold for a bit.
Getting Gary Vee!
Now, there is one guy that I’ve been trying to get on the show since the first ever episode. And that’s Gary Vaynerchuk. Anyone who is online in any way, trying to make something happen for themselves will know of this guy – if you don’t, snap out of being in laa-laa land and visit his site! I’ve called Gary out on a number of episodes, we’ve tweeted back and forth a little, and his assistant has been very polite and helpful whenever I’ve contact him about getting Gary on the show. However, so far, all my hard work has been to no avail.
So, about a week or so ago I posted a video, a personal message to Gary, asking him to be the final guest on the show for a while. You can check out the video, above, in case you haven’t stumbled across it yet!
As you can see, it was short, sweet and to the point. Much like the way Gary is when he’s slamming down his infinite wisdom, either in videos, on stage or in his excellent books. I appreciate that Gary is very busy. So, you can imagine how happy I was when I saw a tweet from him back to me, with the message you see to the right.
A reply – great.
But, also a polite knock-back. Understandably. Again, he’s a very busy guy… And – he loves my hustle (which as you know, I am ALL about the hustle!) – awesome.
But, that doesn’t mean I’m gonna get the chance to interview him for the thousands of people that tune into the VBL Podcast with every new episode, does it!?
Help Me GET GARY!!!
So, here’s what I am asking of my faithful tribe… A tweet.
Its as simple as that. Gary is a BIG twitter user, and he does, pretty religiously, check his tweets – replying to a large majority of them, too. I’d like you to please simply copy the tweet below and send it to Gary. Here’s the tweet:
@GaryVee – We’d love to hear you talk on @chriscducker’s Virtual Business Lifestyle Podcast Ep.50 – Find the time for our Tribe… Please!
I would love to assume (and I am!) that if Gary hears from enough of you, he’ll be happy to make 20-30mins for us all. I’ve had my questions for him ready for a year!!! I’m asking you to include MY Twitter name in there, so that I can see who has tweeted him, for a special surprise, should we be successful in landing the GaryVee chat!
So – to all of you who DO send the tweet – thanks in advance.
VBL Guest Post Season 2
Last year when I went to BlogWorld (where I’ll be speaking this year in LA!), I opened up the pages of the VBL Blog to our loyal VBL Tribe members, offering you all a chance to have a guest post featured. As you know, I don’t usually do guest posts at the blog, so its a big opportunity to be featured on a popular blog in a great niche, with a kick-ass community (if I say so myself!).
This year, I’m doing the same thing… Although instead of the posts going live when I’m at BlogWorld, they will go live in the run-up to the expo, as I am going to be working hard on my presentation.
As with last year, there are 10 guest post slots.
The Guidelines
I don’t do this stuff very often, like I said, so I’m not about to get all ‘uppity’ on what you can and can’t submit to be considered. However, there are a few guidelines I’d like to include, and they are as follows:
- The post must be 100% original and not published anywhere else online.
- It must revolve around the usual content found on the blog, the podcast and in my videos.
- Submissions should be in text (Word file), or video format (YouTube link required).
- If submitting video then you must produce three paragraphs of text to go with it.
- Be sure to include your Twitter ID and Blog URL, so we can include it in the footer of the post.
- No blatant sales pitches! (Quickest way to turn me off!)
The successful posts will be going live October 10th, through to October 21st (one a day, Monday – Friday each week). If you’re not successful, we’ll let you know, so that you can use the post on your own blog, or another one.
To submit, please send your Word file, or the YouTube link and written intro, directly to my VBL VA at assistant [at] virtualbusinesslifestyle.com. All submissions MUST be received by no later than Monday, 2nd October 2011.
Some of the posts last year were incredibly popular, and really boosted traffic for the authors. And the VBL Blog is now TWICE as popular as it was back then – so I can only assume that it’ll be even better than last year. I also expect the quality of submissions to be way better than last year, too – as boy, oh boy, are there some seriously savvy peeps in the VBL Tribe, that have joined us over the last year or so! Wow.
Thank You!
I often say thanks to you all, in different ways. Comments, tweets, emails.
However, today I wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU publicly to everyone that has supported, promoted and helped spread the word of the VBL Blog, Podcast, and YouTube channel recently. The growth we’ve been seeing is humbling, and I know that, ultimately – its all down to you guys and the way you feel about the VBL Tribe in general.
After I put the effort behind the content that I produce for the blog and its affiliated online resources, there is nothing better than seeing all your comments on what I’ve done, and the way that you all help each other out as a community. Its just awesome!!!
So, thank you all, once again.

Gary
Ah, thanks, Gary – much appreciated, buddy.
I am SOOO excited for Blog World, I even accidently bought a hotel room (even though I live very close by).
Also, I am going to apply for your guest post positions, hopefully people can find value in some of the ideas I have.
I tweeted Gary for you, I hope you get him on your show.
Hi Lucy
Excellent, so you’re coming to BW, thats great! I look forward to meeting you…
Looking forward to seeing your guest post when it comes through, and thanks for the tweets to Mr. Vee.
C
Chris, I’m Right Behind you on this, would certainly be an interesting Podcast to listen to.
Consider the tweet done, perhaps 3 or 4? That should do it right?
Goodluck
Hey Man!
3-4 is bang-on the money, I reckon.
Thanks for the support, buddy!
C
Hi Chris
Very cool idea. Gary just got a tweet from each of my business accounts, so that should keep his VA busy for a while
I’ll send an email to your VA r.e. guest post (im going to win my way into one of your compettions if it kills me
) one question how long should they be in text format?
I assume less than 100,000 words of wittering and more than three paragraphs.
Hi Steve
Sweet!
Re: the guest post – awesome! Anything from 500 – 1,200 is around the ‘norm’ for when I write posts myself, so you can follow that if you like, bud. But dont let it restrict you. If you got more to say – say it!!!
Looking forward to seeing what you put together.
C
I sent out a tweet to Gary V! It’d be great to see two high energy guys on the same podcast! I think the screen would overheat!
Haha. I haven’t even thought of it like that, Benny – but, I see your point!
Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the support.
C
Done
Ah, you always put a smile on my face, Yamille!
Thanks!
C
Chris,
Gary is a great guy and his audio book for Crush It is one of my favoutrites. It’s got even more content than the book and is a true inspiration. The Thank you Economy is great too and every small business should have a copy. I will tweet him up asap ! It would be great to hear you interview him. RobM
Hi Rob
Awesome, buddy.
I agree – both books are BRILLIANT and I believe he has tons more coming out in the future, too! I’ve got some great questions lined up for him, and with a bit of luck we’ll all be able to convince him to come on the show.
Thanks for the support, man.
C
Tweet sent Chris
Hope you get to interview him would be very interesting.
Thanks, Trevor.
Totally appreciate your support and help, buddy.
Fingers crossed – I’m gagging to interview him for you all, too!
C
Tweet sent, buddy.
I’ll send through a guest post too.
I’m thinking along the lines of: “How to keep it simple in the world of virtual business”.
Talk soon.
Love it, Adam.
Thanks for the support, mate. Saw your sweet… Cracked me up.
C
Hey Chris,
I sent a tweet to Gary V. for you and tweeted the article. I like your determination. I hope you do succeed because I want to know what he says to you in the interview. I wish you the best of luck.
Cheers,
Rick
Thanks, Rick.
I also want to hear what Mr. Crush it! has got to say, too!!!
Appreciate your support, as always, bud.
C
Hi Chris
I think Gary is great – I have heard in speak twice. Pity you weren’t at BWNY – he spoke at the Keynote.
I have tweeted and will also attempt a guest post for you – our two worlds do combine and I see more and more VA’s managing online courses.
Ainslie
Hi Ainslie
I know – I was so gutted that I couldn’t make it, actually… Mainly because of that main reason! But, I already had business commitments.
Thats great – I look forward to seeing your guest post then.
Cheers!
C
Hah, i’ll give him the tweet. Way to persist.
I first heard your interview on Pat Flynn’s podcast and have caught up with all the past episodes of your show now. Good stuff. I’m very tempted to try your VA business, though I’m not sure I could find enough work to occupy someone full-time (maybe in the future though).
Thanks for all the info!
Thanks, Lindsay!
Glad you’re a newly converted VBL Tribe member. Thats great
VA’s can also be utilized in a part-time capacity, too. VSF can also help you find part-time VA’s, if thats what you need. Let me know if you have any questions.
Welcome.

Tweet sent Chris.
What dates are you going to be in the USA?
Will you be dropping by Manila for a couple of days?

http://www.fmi.com.ph/?page=events&eid=61
If your interested would be great to see you here in Manila.
-Stephen
Hi Stephen
Thanks for the support, buddy.
I fly directly to the US, via HK – so Manila is not in reach this time around. Thanks for the link though – I’ll check it out, nonetheless.
C
Chris,
Tweet – done.
Guest post submission – done.
One thing though, what was the real deadline of this guest post submission?
I know it doesn’t have any influence on me anymore, but you talked about Monday, 2nd October 2011. I guess you meant Sunday, 2nd October 2011 ?
Hi Timo
Wicked. Appreciate the helping hands… So far, nothing from Gary and I HAVE reached out to him… I’ll try again mid-week and see what happens.
I’ve had a TON of people ask for additional time to submit their guest posts, so the new deadline is this coming Friday 6th, October, 2011.
Looking forward to reading yours, bud.
C
Great Idea Dude
Love it. And I also shared the tweet. Hope this helps.
Did he already react to this?
The original video and tweet – as stated here, yes.
But, this post and the TONS of tweets I’ve seen going to him………. Nope. Nothing.
A little disappointed by that, to be honest. But, there’s still time!!!
C
UPDATE:
I’ve just reached out to Gary and asked, one last time, for him to be on the show.
Fingers crossed we’ll get a solid reaction from him. If not, I want to thank all the people that have tweeted out to him. I must have seen at least 50 or so going out since this post went live, so thank you…
Cheers,
Chris
