Location: Company HQ – Reading / Viewing Time: 4mins
Last Friday I shot this quick video (with my webcam, so quality is a little lower than usual), in regards to last week’s going-on’s. I originally thought I might just slam this up on our Facebook Fan Page, but then figured a post would get it to a larger audience – so, here you go.
It was a bit of a topsy-turvy week, and I can report that I am STILL looking for that Operation’s Manager – so, if you fancy it and have previous, relevant experience, let me know. I will bring you a little more up to date on everything this coming Friday, when my latest Monthly Report (for July) will go live.
As I continue on my quest for that Full-Time Virtual CEO goal (link is to the first EVER post here on the blog, where I launched my year-long mission, for you newbie visitors!), I am being consistently reminded just how hard of a job it is to remove yourself from the day-to-day operational side of any business – especially one with over 200+ employees attached to it. The virtual business way of making money aint as easy as it might seem, trust me – but is is attainable, and I’ll get there, dont worry!
It’s my vision, plans for next year and family that keeps me going, I must say.
Thanks for the continued support from you guys, too. I appreciate every bit of it, believe me. See you on Friday!

Chris I think it’s great that you’ve drawn the positives out of a week like this. All to often when we get stuck into times like this we drown ourselves in the negative aspects of what’s happening. To come on here tell us honestly what’s been going on and then shine nothing but positive light on it is awesome.
Feel bad for bugging you about my video now – sorry mate I didn’t realise things were that busy to you.
Keep rocking and rolling
Hi Ben
No need to feel bad, mate. Its all good.
You have to try and stay positive. I’ve always been like this. But, I gotta be honest – to fly to Manila do a bunch of interviews and not find someone was a little brutal. So – the search continues. It’s finding someone with the balance of the call center operational experience with a bit of a ‘sales’ mindset, too. I’m a fussy bugger, thats the problem!
Thanks for the support and comment, as always buddy.
Chat soon,
Chris
Hey Chris,
Just saw your tweet about this post and decided to see how your week went.
Not finding your replacement must have been a drag but just think how extra special it will feel to find him or her. Just a thought that popped in my head (and I appreciate it might not be practical) but have you considered recruiting two mini yous?
You do what you do brilliantly because it’s your baby but could you recruit a duo who together would have the call centre and sales mix you’re looking for? Just a thought.
El
Hi El
Yes, I could do that – however, affording it is something else. You’re talking about bringing on board TWO expat employee’s in Asia (who generally dont come cheap!), and as a small company (even though we’re at 2020-odd employees), there has to be salary cap’s put in place to remain profitable, obviously.
It’s a tough one, but I do believe that there is that special SOMEONE out there… Time will bring them to us… Sooner or later.
Thanks for dropping by, I really appreciate the supporting youre showing both myself and blog.
Have an awesome rest of the day!
Best,
Chris
Yep, I had a feeling that the cost implications might be an issue. Take it as a compliment that I suggested it. You’re one of the biggest business people I know so in my head, your budget is like that of Richard Branson and Lord Sugar.
Hahaha.
Just to be mentioned in the same sentence as those two awesome entrepreneurs is about as flattering as can be!!!
Thanks, El – youve made my day with that.
Chris
Hey Chris, great job of turning lemons into lemonade. And you’re right that finding the right expat is tough and not cheap. I know that I drove a hard bargain with my new employer in Makati
You’ve probably already thought of this, but could you find somebody who’s a bit raw and/or weak on the experience, but willing to work for less in the beginning and grow into the role? I was envisioning something almost like an apprentice type relationship.
If I were in a position to work on the cheap for a while, I would have have pitched myself for that role. But I need to make the big money for a while to clear up some past obligations before I start putting myself out there in a riskier situation that may or may not work out.
Like you say, you’ll find somebody sooner or later that’s right.
Hi Mike
Thanks for dropping by, bud.
Apprentice is a good idea, and yes, it did pop up. And I do have one already, on the Business Development side of things, who is coming along brilliantly. However, for the Op;s Manager role, just waaaaay too much to learn in a very short space of time. It’s best to literally pay more and get more right now.
I am continuing to interview via Skype this week, going into next – so, fingers crossed.
Cheers,
Chris
Hey Chris – at least you’ve made the realization that the best way to up your quality of life is to step aside from the business & replace yourself – even if it takes a team of people to replace the one & only you.
So many people have their heads stuck in the sand refusing to believe their business can survive & thrive without them present 24/7.
Good luck on finding that ops manager – keep networking maybe they’ll find you!
Looking fw to the launch of the much anticipated new service.
Cheers Jean
Hi Jean
Yep – the search continues, but I am confident I will find ‘the one’ pretty soon. Networking is, at the end of the day, what it is all about. Good thing I’m not a shy guy, huh!??!
The new service is almost here, my friend. We have worked with around 6-7 people on it, and got some excellent feedback and testimonials. The process is being tweaked, the system sharpened and the launch planned for sometime in the next couple of weeks! We hadn’t even settled on a name for it until around a week or so ago!!!
All will be revealed soon… Promise.
Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.
Chris
Hi Chris
Keep positive man!
I like the way that you finished the week with this video. Thank you for being so real all the time. Thats one of the reasons why I continue to come back with every post.
You should write a book about this stuff one day!!!!!!
Sam
Hiya Sam!
I’m just shooting / writing about stuff that I believe people will get something from. Regardless of the subject, etc.
Thanks for the support, as always – and yeah, a book (someday!) would be cool. But, only when the time is right, and only with the right subject in mind!
Stay tuned, my man!
Chris
Good luck on your search!
I do know a Filipina who has extensive experience who is working in Manila right now. Her english is perfect. She is working for a major Cable TV company right now and has been promoted up several times.
Wish I had call center experience! It would be a no brainer for me.
I just have alot of Managerial Experience with a Fortune 100 company myself.
Best of luck!
Hi Randell
I am more than interested to talk with anyone interested. If your friend woul dlike to apply, please ask her to email my assistant, Stephanie at stephanie [at] live2sellgroup [dot] com – I’d be happy to chat with her.
Thanks for dropping by again, and commenting – always nice to hear from you.
All the best,
Chris
Hi Chris,
I can imagine how hard it would be for you to find an Operations Manager because you are so involved in your business and it is your “baby” so to speak.
In time though you will eventually find who you are looking for that will fit the role perfectly. Just stay positive.
All the best to you and take care!
Anna
Hi Anna
Yep – it is my baby… But, its ready, I believe to have a foster parent!!! Lol.
I genuinely thought it would be easier to find someone, but it seems that finding the balance between experience and salary requirement is going to be a little tougher. Saying that I am definitely remaining positive and I am sure the right person will come along soon.
One thing is for sure – it is NOT a hire I am going to rush into, thats for sure!
Thanks for dropping by.
Chris
Hi Chris,
I just want to meet up with you and shoot the shit when you are in Manila.
Hi Beau
Sure thing, buddy.
I’ll let you know when I’m going to be in town next.
Thanks for dropping by,
Chris
I know how you feel about letting go, but oyu have to delegate your own job eventually…I did that 10 years ago, and have been a Virtual CEO for the last 10 years…
I’m in Philippines now, looking at new business opps here, so if you want to meet give me a shout…
cheers
mark
