Location: The Beach, Cebu – Reading / Viewing Time: 4mins
First up, thank you so much for all the great comments and feedback on this short video series. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the blog comments, tweets and emails I’ve been getting all week long. I genuinely didn’t think they were going to be this popular, but, it just goes to show you – never underestimate the power of peoples feelings, and true fans and friends. Thanks again, guys.
Today I wrap up the series, which I shot at a local beach resort here in Cebu, Philippines, when I was on a little getaway with my family last week. In this clip you’ll get to find out the single most important part of wanting to become a Full-Time Virtual CEO - simply being able to ‘be there’ more, for my family. Such a simple thing, but in todays hustle and bustle of business life, its sometimes tough to get around to it.
If you haven’t already realized, I am hell-bent on achieving my goal this year, and this is absolutely the main reason why.
As you’ll no doubt remember, in the first post of the series I mentioned that some people didn’t even know I was out of the office when I was on this short trip (just awesome!) Then, in the second video of the series, I talked about being able to get focused on planning, strategizing and working on continually growing my personal business empire going into next year. However, nothing is more important than being able to spend more time with my family.
I sincerely hope that you’ve enjoyed the ‘Why I Want to be a Virtual CEO‘ video series. Please feel free to subscribe to my YouTube Channel, and don’t forget the blogs’ RSS Feed, too, to be able to get notified the moment I post new content each time.
COMING NEXT WEEK ON THE VBL BLOG:
THREE video interviews with THREE highly respected experts – Covering social media, personal branding, super-mobility, personal outsourcing, creating passive income, growing an online presence, becoming invaluable, maximizing your work hours, plus much more! It’s the VBL Video Chat Week!
Thanks again for all your support. I look forward, as I always do, to reading your comments below.

Ah Chris what a great video to finish on. Seeing you two chilling out together is beautiful!
As a dad of two I know just where you’re coming from. This morning for example is my first morning at home after 3 weeks on the road speaking and was ready to kick back with my family and work on some stuff that’s taken a backseat over the past few weeks. But I’ve now been called into the office. The virtual business lifestyle is so amazing in that it allows you to function and excel at work while giving you freedom and time with your family.
Would love to hear how you work your working day when being a virtual CEO. Post idea? Lol
Hi Ben
Thanks for the comment, mate.
Wow. Working hard, and away, for 2 weeks is tough, but then getting called into the office on your day off is tough. Make the break, my man. Do your own thing – when the time is right. You’ll know when that is.
As for the Virtual CEO Working Day – a great post. When I actually become one!
Stay tuned.
Chris
The time is right Chris. Been listening to your podcast this morning in the car and decided now is the time
Congratulations.
If you feel that way then DO IT. Now.
You will never have that feeling again – that FIRST time when you say to yourself “I can do this on my own. I can get out there, and make money and work hard and provide for my family without the ‘corporate’ support of anyone else. And I’m gonna CRUSH IT”…. or words to that effect, obviously!
Keep us in the loop, mate.
Regards to your very lucky family, too.
Chris
Awwwww. Sorry, I’ve got nothing intelligent to say (it happens rarely at the best of times
) Your young man stole the show for me.
Your stuff on here combined with the team at 37signals makes me want to really work toward ensuring that as GAB grows, it remains a charity that can be managed virtually. We’re building a community of people who (almost without exception) have never met face to face.
I didn’t say it at the time, but I loved that one of your guys didn’t even know you were away from the office. That’s very cool.
Thanks Chris. This was a lush video (especially for a Friday, so nice timing too) and I wish you all the best with your goals.

Hi Eleanor
Yeah, Charlie has that effect on ladies…!!!
To be mentioned in the same sentence with 37Signals is a massive compliment, so thank you. Just be sure to keep your eyes on the prize, as they say and GAB can be anything you want it to be.
I’ve found that if you really focus on something for long enough it will actually start taking a shape of its own, kind of like morphing into its own entity. That was certainly the case with Live2Sell. It began as a telemarketing company and now we do customer service and virtual assistant support, too!
Thanks again for the kind support you show me and the VBL blog – its very much appreciated.
Regards,
Chris
Hi Hon,
I have been reading your blog on and off and I totally support you on your Virtual CEO quest. I love seeing you and Charlie together, it makes all our hard work and sleepless nights worthwhile. For sure you’ll be hitting the goal. I know you and I know you will not stop until you do so.
We are all behind you do not forget that!
Love, Erz
Hello Darling!
Wow. We are humbly graced with your presence.
Thanks for the all the support and inspiration you give me. You are truly an awesome partner in life. And a very beautiful one, too (Note to the guys: I know who’s side I’m on!!!).
Mwah!

Hi Chris,
Just caught up with this latest series of posts and it was great to see that you finished on family as the last one. Great to see you with your little one and made the whole quest very real. Nice one!
Adrian
Hi Adrian
Nice to hear from you, mate.
Yep – thats what its all about for me. Regardless of what some people may ‘say’ – that really is the REAL DEAL.
I simply want to spend more time with my family – but, without having to sacrifice my business, my income, or the opportunities that come my way.
All sooooo do-able. With the right mindset and the right LIFESTYLE!
Have a great weekend.
Chris
If a picture is worth a thousand words, that video is worth ten thousand. Having the freedom to spend your time on what’s most important to you is absolutely priceless. I really appreciate seeing what I have to look forward to after I execute the next few phases of my plan. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Mike
Awesome comment, man. Thank you.
Its a pleasure to share. And I intend to continue to do exactly that, plus a whole lot more.
Take care, buddy.
Chris
Very inspiring and thought provoking Chris. I can easily relate to the reasons you’ve found for choosing the path your currently following.
It’s important to realize that it’s not just the location independent part of the “deal” that’s so awesome about this lifestyle.
Getting rid of the “regular office” is one thing. But what it’s even more about making the personal choice to do what you love to do, be what you want to be and like you said; be with the people you want to be (whether it’s your family, friends or your pet frog Ralph).
It can be scary to question the “regular life path ” and break out of the ordinary. But heck, is it worth it? You bet!
Nice comment, Juha.
Break out of the ordinary, as you put it, is basically what it is all about. Just not ‘giving in’ to the way things are, and looking for different angles to be able to work and lead your life.
Thanks for dropping by – its been a while.
Cheers,
Chris
Hi Chris, great series. It’s very important to think about why you do the things you do and as you say, you need to focus on what matters.
All power to you my friend.
Hi Matt
Thanks, mate.
Yep – getting that focus sharpened and really locking-in on a goal is the best thing to do – especially with a medium-term goal, like this one.
More to come, my man!
Chat soon, I hope.
Chris
You’re son is so cute Chris! Family is THE most important thing for me too and it’s awesome that you are able to share so much about your goals and what you want to accomplish to the readers of this blog and beyond.
It definitely puts a “personal” touch and reaches everyone on an emotional level in which people can relate to you even more.
Having a family puts a lot of things into perspective and equally important is being able to provide them the lifestyle they deserve and spending the much needed time with them. In the end that’s what it’s all about!
Anna
Hi Anna
Thanks for this great comment. Spurs me on, this type of stuff. Thank you.
You’re right, having a family does indeed put things in perspective. This is something that so many people dont realize when they first read 4HWW, for example. Tim obviously wasnt a father at the time of writing (dont think he is now, either!), and its obvious to see that by his vagabonding ways. But, when that awesome day comes along for him, he’ll see that the lifestyle he pitches in the book is a lot tougher to engage.
Not impossible to enjoy from time to time, but definitely tougher to bring on board ‘full-time’, so to speak.
Thanks again, really enjoyed this one.
Chris
