Last week I had the great pleasure to interview, via Skype Videocon, one of the guys that I really do enjoy following online – religiously. David Siteman Garland ROCKS! Plain and simple. As our little podcast continues to grow and as it just got listed with iTunes (you can subscribe directly with iTunes by clicking here), what better way to celebrate this milestone by unleashing our first Video interview and with such an awesome entrepreneurial force, too!
For those of you who don’t know David, he is a real entrepreneur’s entrepreneur! His zest for life, the energy behind his awesome TV show and the way that he carries himself in his interviews with some of the most popular businesspeople and authors of our time, is just as fun to watch as the content itself.
I have actually be following David for a while, but finally got around to posting a comment on one of his recently shows at TheRiseToTheTop.com, and was surprised when he replied as quickly as he did. I mean, seriously… he was ON IT! We conversed via email a few times, and he then agreed to do an interview for the VBL Podcast. Excellent.
Within our chat, we discuss, among other things:
- The importance of growing a community.
- The difference between caring and not.
- How he invested everything he had into his ABC TV show.
- Why he is now focusing on the online medium instead of TV.
- What he would considering outsourcing and what he wouldn’t!
- His upcoming book, published by Wiley.
- Much more…
For those of you who would like to listen to the interview instead, here is the player / link, as always.

I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation, and following my intro and the questions being asked, you’ll see I am a little quieter than usually! It was one of those conversations where you sit back and learn.

Great being on, Chris. Thanks for having me.
Hey Man!
It was a great conversation, with plenty of awesome info, David.
Thanks again for finding the time.
All the best,
Chris
David shows true authenticity, I’m looking forward on his book.
Thanks for the great tips David and Chris
Hey T
I second that, buddy. I cant wait for the book.
Perhaps the RISE Dude will be throwing around a few review copies (when available) to hip and trendy bloggers, what you reckon..?!!
C
Thanks, Tony. Here to help. Appreciate the interest in the book and I promise it won’t disappoint
I very much doubt that would happen, David..!
And after watching this interview, I doubt anyone else would, either!
Great interview Chris. I don’t know about you, but I learned how to do these Skype interviews for my website from an article that David wrote on The Rise back in March.
You can tell that both of you guys have a passion for what you are doing and do a great job of delivering solid content.
Looking forward to future interviews on your site!
Cheers!
Hi Trevor
Thanks for the thumbs up, buddy – and yes, actually, it was David that intro’d me to the same thing!!! His interviews are EPIC to say the least. I love ‘em!
Thanks for the comment, as always, and yes – plenty more AWESOME interviews coming soon, stay tuned…!
All the best,
Chris
Hi Chris,
Long time. Hope you are well.
Great interview and looking forward to seeing David’s book. Has that given you some impetus to write on too?
Adrian
Hi Adrian
Indeed – hope you’ve been well, my friend.
Write a BOOK! Wow, er… I’ve thought about it a few times, but – honestly, way too busy to look at it right now. What the hell would I write about anyway…??!!!!!
Chat soon,
Chris
Hi Chris,
How about memoirs of a virtual entrepreneur or build your business from the beach ?
A
Memoirs..???! Good Gd, man – I’m not THAT old… YET!
Couple of good ideas, though…!
Hey Chris
Really enjoyed this one. And the new video format is awesome. I see David does the same thing at his site too.
What came across to me about David in this conversation is his energy. Its almost raw. There were a couple of time in fact when I thought he was even holding back a little.
He must be an excellent live speaker.
Thanks for posting.
Sam
Hi there, Sam!
I’ll be doing more of these vid interviews. I feel its much nicer to ‘see’ the conversation than just hear it. Saying that, we will be including an MP3 downloadable version, too, as I know some people like to listen to them on the move, etc.
Yep – David certainly does have a LOT of energy. It was a great chat.
Thanks for the comment!
Chris
