VBL004 – Dan Andrews and his Philippines Tropical MBA!

Tropical MBA, Philippines

Dan Andrews and 1st Semester Tropical MBA Winner, Sean Ogle at Work!

About three months ago I flew to Manila on business and whilst I was there I met with entrepreneur and virtual boss, Dan Andrews. We originally met via his blog OutsourcetothePhilippines.com, which I thought was an excellent resource for anyone looking to outsource or set-up businesses in the Philippines. We got talking and Dan told me about TropicalMBA.com – which blew me away.

I did a video interview with Dan for the blog, which you can check out here. And he also interviewed little ‘ol me for his Podcast, too.

So… Fast forward 6-8 months following the first semester and the Tropical MBA is now searching for one lucky so-and-so to be part of the second semester of this excellent program. I sat down with Dan last week to discuss this a little more via Skype (whilst he was on an awesome island here in the Philippines), and you’ll hear him formerly offer VBL readers the opportunity to apply for the Tropical MBA themselves, if they should want to do so!

We also discuss:

  • How the first semester of the program went with Sean Ogle (the first lucky applicant)
  • The in’s and out’s of this second semester
  • What the second lucky virtual worker / entrepreneur will ‘get’ for their involvement
  • Lots of laughs…
  • Lots more info!

Its entrepreneurs like Dan that I enjoy being around. They have the ‘screw it’ attitude, and literally get to it every day. That is the sign of success in the making (if it’s not been achieved already!).

As far as I am aware, he is working on a handful of projects right now – but, it’s probably way more than that in reality!

I’m sensing a little bit of Cebu vs. Manila outsourcing rivalry here. ha ha

This a PRIME opportunity, one of the many reasons I applied for the Tropical MBA. I mean its only right to get a MBA after college, right? Especially a Tropical MBA ;)

I have a feeling Dan is looking for one ambitious young gun that shows far more quality and hustle than what a degree can state. The Tropical MBA is a symbol of freedom fighters.

Dan has a great program going here. Would love to be an asset.

    • Hi Tony

Congrats for applying. I am sure Dan will look very carefully at your application. If he doesnt he has serious mental problems!!! (Perhaps the Manila air…??!!!)

      Good luck, my man.

  2. Chris,

I love that make it happen now type attitude also.
You know, some people were born to talk the talk….and others such as yourself…walk the walk.

Dan, thanks for the audio. Look forward to listening to.

  3. Wow, Chris, this is a wonderful opportunity that Dan is offering. I would love to apply, unfortunately the deadline has passed. I hope he continues with a 3rd semester. I think the experience will be most beneficial and fits with my background in advertising, graphic design, and marketing. Thanks for sharing.

    • Hi Cynthia

Thank you for the comment, as always.

Yep – its a great chance for the right person. Perhaps Dan and Sean have shut down entries already as they have found ‘the one’ already…? I’m sure he’ll let me know sooner or later. I believe it will take quite a session to come to conclusions as no doubt they’ve had plenty of great entries.

      Chris

    Hey Chris

Great interview with Dan, thanks for the exposure mate. We are really looking forward to the new candidate settling into my BADLADZ resort. I guarantee it will be way too much fun !
I am, of course, expecting you to make an appearance there sometine during the first 3 month. Cebu is Kool lad but Mindoro rocks !

    Cheers
    Sean

    • Hi Sean

I’ve lived here 10 years and never made it to your sunny spot, so yes, its on the cards for sure…

Thanks for the comment and I am sure that whoever gets the opportunity will rock with you guys!

      Enjoy the weekend.

      Chris

  5. Dan’s opportunity is definitely a sweet deal for the right person and will be a win-win for both Dan and the winner.

But you know what? If that’s something you really want to do, I’m thinking that you could put together your own 3 month tropical retreat to build your business for probably $4K USD or so, maybe even less.

This has gotten me thinking of what I might be able to do with a person like Dan’s candidates. For such a small investment the possibilities are endless. Hmm…
